Got a request for this recipe. It's a good one. It make take a couple of additions to your pantry, but once you have all the items, this is a great meal. Takes a very short time to pull together, especially if you use a quick cook brown rice.
Ingredients:
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 inch stick cinnamon
4-5 Cardamon pods
2-3 Bay Leaves
1 Onion (diced)
3 Cloves Garlic (minced)
2 tsp Fresh Ginger (grated or minced) (I keep a jar of ginger in the fridge)
1 1/4 pound lean ground turkey
1 Med Bag Frozen Peas
1 tsp Turmeric
1 Tbsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper (adjust to taste, or leave out entirely, or add lots more)
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Cracked Pepper
2 Tbsp Lemon juice
3 cups Cooked Brown Rice
Heat oil in large skillet.
Add Cinnamon, Cardamon Pods, Bay Leaves. Stir to flavor the oil. Make a note of the number of cardamon pods you are using. You will need to fish these out later.
Add diced onion and sautee.
Add garlic and ginger. Make sure the garlic doesn't burn.
Brown the meat in the skillet.
Once the meat is browned, add peas, turmeric, garam masala, cayenne, salt, pepper. Stir well.
Remove the cinnamon, bay leaves, and cardamon pods.
Splash with lemon juice.
Serve over brown rice.
