Thursday in Iceland will be a bit unstructured. People will be arriving early in the AM. Hotel rooms might or might not be ready. So, here's how I envision the day.
Arrive @ 7:00AM.
Call the hotel to let them know to pick us up at the airport.
Josh, you may want to carry the hotel's phone number with you in case you arrive at a very different time than the rest of us on the Boston flight. There's a payphone near the convenience store where you can buy salt cod snacks.
If the hotel room is available, you'll be able to check in right away and get some sleep. If not, then the hotel is willing to hold the bags for you while you wait.
You can enjoy a simple Icelandic breakfast of cereal, cold meats and cheeses, and hard boiled eggs in the restaurant. You can also ask for a ride to Grindavik for a nice meal at the gas station/restaurant.
The Blue Lagoon will open around 10ish and is another great spot to wait for rooms to become available. The hotel staff will be happy to drive you there. There's an expensive formal restaurant and an inexpensive cafe for casual dining. There is also a small bar near the entrance to the waters.
Meal options include dinner at the hotel, at the Blue Lagoon, or in Grindavik (Pub or Italian Restaurant).
But we're not going to have any formal get together or go to the Blue Lagoon together as a formal group. Thursday will be a day to recuperate, relax, acclimate, and enjoy.
